Intro:

Over the past few years, I went from sitting on the sidelines (a.k.a. my couch) to finishing 5k's, 10k's, a half marathon, and triathlon relay. More recently, I've begun changing my focus to CrossFit workouts and fitting in a few runs here and there!

Along the way I've managed to lose a total of 40 lbs! Join me on my journey to keep pushing forward while maintaining a healthy and fit lifestyle.

Enter Road Cycling...

As I mentioned in one of my blog posts last year, the next event I have ahead of me is the Iron Girl tri-relay this coming August.  For the relay I am committed to the 17.5 mile bike portion of the race where I not only hope to survive, but I hope to do well for my team. Yeah!

Since Dec./Jan. I've been spinning around 60-80 miles a week (Thank you, Daily Mile for helping me keep my stats! LOL) and while doing so has been amazing for my endurance, quad strength, and getting my butt acclimated to the bike seat....I know it's imperative that I start actually getting myself OUTSIDE and on my road bike. :)

So...with that being said...Enter Road Cycling Course!
This weekend I'm taking a 6 hr. intro to road cycling class with a friend,  where I'll learn ALL the ins and outs of the proper technique for shifting, braking, and hill descending/climbing. I'll also be learning about etiquette and how to avoid hazards in the road.

To say I'm excited is putting it mildly. I AM AMPED for this class!  I feel like it's exactly what I need to jumpstart my training for the Iron Girl.  If anyone has an advice to send my way, please do so!!!!  I'll be sure to do a blog post on how the class went when it's over. :)

P.S. - I am also working on a blog post regarding weight loss...before/mid-way photo included. :)  As of today I have lost a total of 25 lbs.!

  2. Well now! This is a blog post I can relate to! I... did... NOT take a road cycling course. Really, really SHOULD HAVE. I ended up riding on my own a while and then finally calling a friend and having her teach me the "ropes". After that "lesson" I have really enjoyed my time on the roads on my bike (who's "name" is OC - Orange Crush). The wind in your ears.. yeah, I'll warn you - going fast is addicting... Good luck this weekend!

Oh, and thanks for the comment, that made me smile.
